Green Synthesis, Characterization and anticancer activity of CdO nanoparticles synthesized using aqueous leaf extract of Nelumbo nucifera (lotus) and Pistia Stratiotes (water lettuce)

To reduce the potential hazards of these chemicals in safer environments, research is being performed into environmentally friendly ways of producing metal oxide particles (NPs). In this study, Nelumbo nucifera (lotus) and Pistia Stratiotes (water lettuce) leaf extract was used to successfully synthesize simple, ecologically friendly Cadmium oxide (CdO) nanoparticles from two plants. The structure and shape of the calcined oxide nanoparticles were examined using Xray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). It was discovered that the CdO nanoparticles produced by plants were elliptical and evenly distributed in suspension. Since cadmium oxide particles are valuable in a variety of applications, these green synthetic CdO NPs have anticancer properties.
