Corporate Governance Mechanisms and the Profitability of Quoted Consumer Goods Firms in Nigeria

This study examined the relationship between the profitability of quoted consumer goods companies in Nigeria and corporate governance mechanisms, namely board size and board independence. Panel data was used in an ex post facto research strategy for this aim. There were seventeen consumer goods companies quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange as of 2024. Multiple regression with random effects was used to evaluate the data. The results demonstrate a positive and significant correlation between board size and the return on assets of consumer goods companies listed on the Nigerian stock exchange. It was also shown that the return on asset of the mentioned consumer goods companies in Nigeria had a negative and substantial correlation with board independence
