This study investigates the challenges faced by civil societyorganizations (CSOs) engaged in peacebuilding in Kaduna State, Nigeria, which has been plagued by various conflicts, resulting in a humanitariancrisis and weakened social cohesion. Despite the presence of local andinternational CSOs, peacebuilding efforts have encountered significantobstacles. The research employs historical analysis, descriptive methods, and analytical techniques, using primary data from interviews and FocusGroup Discussions, and secondary sources such as journals, books, andarchival materials. The findings reveal that insufficient funding, insecurity, organizational capacity issues, weak internal governance, and lack ofnetworking and coordination among CSOs are major challenges hinderingtheir effectiveness. Despite engaging in various peacebuilding initiatives,CSOs have not successfully resolved the conflicts in Kaduna State. Toenhance their impact, CSOs must focus on securing sustainable funding, aligning goals with appropriate strategies, addressing insecurity, strengthening organizational capacity and governance, and establishingrobust networking and coordination mechanisms. By overcoming thesechallenges, CSOs can contribute more effectively to creating a peacefulenvironment in Kaduna State.
