A Comparative Study of Academic Achievement in Physics among the Secondary Students of different States in Eastern Regional Part of India in Relation to their Science Teaching

The present study aims to identify the impact of science teaching on the academic achievement scores inPhysics among the secondary school students of different states in Eastern Regional Part of India. Thisobservation endeavors in finding the significant difference of mean achievement scores in Physicsbetween the secondary students of Eastern Regional Part(taking three states West Bengal, Odisha &Tripura jointly) of India and West Bengal, between Eastern Regional Part of India and Odisha, and alsobetween Eastern Regional Part of India and Tripura. The author conducts the descriptive survey researchdesign keeping in mind the objectives of the study. A quantitative methodology is used. A sample of 300secondary students of class-IX promoted to class-X is randomly selected from six purposively selectedsecondary schools of each of the three states of Eastern Regional Part of India. A regional group of 300students is formed taking 100 secondary students from each of the three states. A self constructed andstandardized achievement test questionnaire of Physics is used as the tool for data collection. Thecollected data are analyzed using graphical representation, descriptive statistics and t – test for thejustification of research questions and hypotheses of the study. Result reveals significant variation ofimpact of teaching science on the achievement scores in Physics at the secondary level of three states ofstudy in Eastern Regional Part of India.
