Online Voting System for College

In modern educational institutions, student elections play a vital role in promoting democraticvalues and leadership. However, traditional voting methods are often marred by inefficiencies, manual errors, and lack of transparency. This paper presents a web-based college voting systemdesigned to automate and streamline the election process within academic environments. Theproposed system ensures secure, accurate, and user-friendly electronic voting, accessible via webbrowsers on any internet-enabled device. The application is developed using modern web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScriptfor the frontend, and PHP/MySQL (or Node.js/MongoDB) for the backend. Key features includeuser authentication, role-based access for admin and voters, candidate registration, real-time votecounting, and result generation. Security mechanisms such as OTP/email verification and sessionmanagement are integrated to prevent fraud and ensure vote integrity. This project enhances election transparency, reduces administrative workload, and improves voterparticipation by allowing students to vote remotely and confidentially. The system has been testedin a simulated college environment, and results indicate significant improvements over traditionalvoting methods in terms of efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
