Trends and perspectives of the development of intermediary on the international food market

Subject of study is processes of development and transformation of intermediary structures onthe global food market. The purpose of the study is to summarize the key transformations taking place in the intermediarysystem on the international food market.Research methods. The methodological principles the paper rely on a combination of set of generaland specialized methods of scientific cognition, including methods of analysis, synthesis, synthesis, induction and deduction, and others.Results. The advantages and disadvantages of using intermediary services in the international foodmarket are analyzed. The features of the world food market, which lead to the objective need to use theservices of intermediaries for the organization of effective production and sale of food products, are outlined. The main causes and consequences of paradigm shifts of intermediary consideration in international foodmarket are determined. A comparative analysis of the trade and network model of intermediary wascarried out. The global trends in the spread of value chains in the agricultural sector, which lead to thetransformation of the traditional (trade) intermediary model into a modern network model, are considered.Conclusions. The food market has a number of features, as a result of which the services of variousintermediary structures are an indispensable component of its effective functioning, especially at theinternational level. With the development of globalization processes and the formation of internationalproduction and distribution networks and value chains, a gradual transformation of the paradigm istaking place, within which the essence of intermediary in food markets is considered and analyzed. There is a transition from a purely commercial to a network model of intermediation, which extends notonly to purchasing and sales processes and is not only aimed at facilitating the sale of food products, but also covers a wide variety of functions within the value chain and aims to maximize the efficiency ofthe entire production and sales network.
