Amiarus (Amiarus) fulvus Hendrix & Bartlett 2025, new combination

Amiarus (Amiarus) fulvus (Walker, 1858) new combination Fig. 37 Cixius fulvus Walker, 1858 b: 77 (original description). Oliarus fulvus (Walker, 1858), combination by Distant, 1907 d: 281. Remarks. Amiarus fulvus comb. nov. is one of the few Pentastirini recorded from Brazil. The species was sparsely described by Walker from a specimen collected in Santarem. The specimen (Fig. 37), deposited at the BMNH, is a female. Although generic placement is difficult without the male terminalia, the species is consistent in habitus with Amiarus subgen. nov. based on its size, form of the vertex and thorax, and the lack of tubercles on the CuP vein. We tentatively place the species in Amiarus subgen. nov. All other described members of Amiarus subgen. nov. are South American in distribution.
