The Therapeutic Effects of Physical Activity on Mental Health
Abstract Physical activity has a significant therapeutic effect on mental health, demonstrably improving mood, reducing stress and anxiety, boosting self-esteem, and enhancing overall well-being by releasing brain chemicals like endorphins, which promote positive feelings; it can also aid in good sleep and cognitive function, potentially activities as a preventative measure against mental health issues like depression and anxiety. Physically inactive individuals have been reported to have higher rates of morbidity and healthcare expenditures. Commonly, exercise therapy is recommended to combat these challenges and preserve mental wellness. According to empirical investigations, physical activity is positively associated with certain mental health traits.
