TEACHING SOCIOLINGUISTIC COMPETENCE THROUGH CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS IN HIGH SCHOOL
The increasing focus on developing sociolinguistic competence in education has introduced innovative strategies, including the use of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in high school teaching. This article explores how CDA helps students understand the relationship between language, power, identity, and social dynamics. By engaging with real-world texts, students learn to critically analyze societal norms and language practices in diverse contexts. The study emphasizes how CDA-based teaching methods, supported by tools like multimedia resources and collaborative platforms, enhance students' sociolinguistic skills. Additionally, it discusses the challenges and benefits of applying CDA in high school classrooms, providing valuable insights into its role in fostering critical thinking and linguistic awareness.
