Cladoctonus elongatus Schedl 1967

Cladoctonus elongatus Schedl (Figs 9–12) Cladoctonus elongatus Schedl, 1967: 222 Type material. Holotype, male: [Democratic Republic of the] Congo-Brazzaville, Mt. Fouari reservation near Gabon [-2.71, 11.72], 13.12.1963, by lamp light, leg. Endrödy-Younga [HNHM]. Diagnosis, male. Length 2.2 mm, 2.4 × as long as wide; frons densely punctured, shiny, with scattered setae; elytral interstriae slightly rugose, punctures on average half the size of those in striae, all declivital interstriae with sharp granules. Distribution: Democratic Republic of the Congo. Comments. Body proportions and elytral structures are similar to C. amanicus, but as the frons indicates, the two types are of different sex. Cladoctonus amanicus also have a narrow impunctate band on the pronotum, not seen in C. elongatus. More samples are needed to evaluate if these two morphs are actually one sexually dimorphic species.
