Myocardial Protection Techniques During Open Heart Surgery
ABSTRACT When the heart is stopped and the heart-lung machine is switched on during open-heart surgery, the heart muscle (myocardium) is deprived of oxygen. This can lead to damage to the heart muscle. Myocardial protection techniques are methods used to minimise this damage to the heart muscle during surgery. Keywords: Cardiopulmonary Bypass, Myocardial Protection, Open Heart Surgery.
