RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION OF A VELOCIPEDE FROM THE PATRIMONY OF BRASOV COUNTY HISTORY MUSEUM

Summary. After an introduction about the history of the bicycle, this article presents the restoration flow of a velocipede from the patrimony of the Brasov County Museum of History. After dedusting and degreasing, the part was dismantled, separating the metal components from the wooden ones, each category having the specific restoration flow. After the applied treatments, the assembly of all the wood components with the metal ones ended the restoration of the velocipede.Following the restoration, the piece was ranked in the National Cultural Heritage in the Thesaurus category and is exhibited in the basic exhibition of the new section of our museum, Olympia - Museum of Sports and Mountain Tourism.Key words: Brasov County History Museum, Olimpia – Mountain Sports and Tourism Museum, velociped, restoration, conservation.
