This article, titled The Impact of Media Information on the Mental Health of Individuals Previously Affected by COVID-19 in the City of Maputo, analyzes the psychological impacts of media coverage of COVID-19 on the mental health of previously infected individuals. While recognizing the importance of media in disseminating information on prevention and raising awareness about the disease, it highlights that the manner in which such information is presented may contribute to psychological issues. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with a qualitative and exploratory focus, utilizing the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) adapted by the authors, semi-structured interviews, and content analysis to interpret the collected data. Results revealed that 67% of participants showed no signs of depression, although two individuals exhibited tendencies toward mild depression, while 33% displayed mild symptoms characterized by emotions such as denial, anger, guilt, fear, resentment, and sadness. The study recommends that the government, particularly the Ministry of Health, collaborate with public and private universities to implement online psychological support programs for individuals affected by COVID-19 and their families.
