PSYCHOEDUCATION IN PSYCHOTHERAPY AND AT SCHOOL: ANALYSIS OF THE INSIDE OUT 2 MOVIE (2024)
This study is a film analysis with the aim of discussing psychoeducation in the psychotherapeutic setting and in the school context, based on the narrative of the movie Inside Out 2 (2024). Since the sequel to Inside Out (2015) presents new emotions and conflicts related to the transformations of puberty and Riley's new social interactions. In this sense, the aim of the study was to analyze and discuss how elements of the film can contribute to psychoeducation both in psychotherapy and in the school context. Film analysis was used as an analytical methodology, which allowed us to analyze the filmic elements of the feature film, as well as its images and other significant content articulated to the theoretical framework, selected from searches in academic databases, such as Google Scholar and PubMed, which allowed us to find relevant publications on the central theme of the article, from the perspectives of neuroscience and historical-cultural theories about puberty and the social context in the period of adolescence. The results obtained indicate that audiovisual resources, such as the feature film Inside Out 2 (2024), are important tools that can facilitate discussions on various topics related to social experiences and, in particular, the emotional conflicts faced by adolescents. Finally, it was possible to conclude that psychoeducation, both in schools and in psychotherapy, combined with the use of resources such as films, is a valuable tool that helps to identify and express conflicting emotions and sensations that are often silenced.
