Research Software Engineering As A Service: Scientific Software Engineering Center (SSEC) @ University of Washington

The Scientific Software Engineering Center (SSEC) at the University of Washington’s eScienceInstitute works with researchers across various disciplines to build robust software that bolstersinquiry and builds community. The resulting tools are open source, maintainable and reusable, designed to sustain and lead to scientific breakthroughs. The poster we propose to present would highlight not just our model of engaging as softwareengineers with the research community, but also highlight several of our successfully graduatedprojects, spanning diverse research domains from neurobiology to seismology to conservationefforts and beyond. By demonstrating prior successes and discussing how we achieve them, we hope to sparkconversations about our approach to supporting researchers and show an interesting approachto research software engineering.
