Doksyczny obraz Mamusi Muminka: Próba reinterpretacji postaci

Moominmamma is a central figure in Moominvalley, appearing throughout the nine-volume book series (1945–1970) written and illustrated by the Swedish-speaking Finnish author Tove Jansson. The enduring popularity of the Moomin books has been fuelled by a range of factors, including the powerfully appealing image of Moominmamma, who has been widely perceived as an incarnation of an ideal mother being the centre of an idealized family. Nevertheless, this interpretation overlooks the portrayal of the character, both in the comics and in the two final novels, Moominpappa at Sea and Moominvalley in November. This paper explores the persistence of reductive reading of Moominmamma by applying Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of doxa to reevaluate the character. The results show that Moominmamma has been subjected to symbolic violence, which has been overlooked as a result of the uncritical, doxic lens of both academic and popular readers.
