The Spatial Analysis of Healthcare Centers in the Rural Areas of the Habbaniya District

Aims: The study aims to assess the public health services in the rural areas of the Habbaniya district and compare it with the international and local planning standards for health services. It also aimed to determine the level of efficiency or inadequacy in these services, and to propose immediate and future solutions and interventions to improve the health standards in this area. Methodology: The analytical approach was used to study the characteristics of public health services and their components in the rural areas of the Habbaniya district. The study also employed a comparison method between each element of the local and international health services. The study further relied on a sample survey method using a questionnaire, along with data from official state institutions and agencies. Results: After analyzing the data, the results showed that there are 17 primary and secondary health centers in the area. The presence of doctors in various specialties is limited to only 7 health centers. The total number of doctors in these centers is 40. The district of Husaybah al-Sharqiya had the highest number of doctors (17, 42,5%), followed by the districts of Al-Malahma, Kirtan, and Zawiya al-Dhaban followed with 7.5%, 10.0%, and 40.0% respectively. The situation for pharmacists was similar to that of doctors, with only 18 pharmacists distributed across 9 out of 10 health centers. Husaybah al-Sharqiya also ranked first with 5 pharmacists. Similarly, health professionals, laboratory technicians, and administrative staff were not distributed appropriately across the centers. Conclusions: It was found that there is an absence of health centers in the districts of San al-Dhaban and Al-Hammamiyat, while the districts of Zawiya al-Dhaban, Husaybah al-Sharqiya, and Ghazwan each have 3 health centers. The number of health centers in the remaining districts ranges from 1 to 2, indicating a disparity in the distribution of health centers.
