Effectiveness of plant essential oil nanoemulsions in controlling, Leptocorisa oratoria (Hemiptera, Alydidae) in lab and field conditions
Formulated basil and turmeric essential oil nanoemulsions were evaluated for their effect on eggs and adults of Leptocorisa oratoria (Fabricius, 1764) (Hemiptera, Alydidae), pest of rice. Basil and turmeric nanoemulsions of 97.33±52.13 and 42.39± 10.76 d. nm were prepared and characterized. The ovicidal assay showed that the basil oil nanoemulsion has an LC50 of 13724 and the turmeric oil nanoemulsion has 14337ppm. The laboratory evaluation of basil oil nanoemulsion on adults showed an LC50 of 12187ppm. Turmeric oil nanoemulsion showed a delayed toxicity effect. Acid and alkaline phosphatases were higher in the concentrations of nanoemulsion formulations than in the control. Carbohydrate varied with both formulations. In pot culture and field count, the insect number was found to be affected significantly in the treatments. This study revealed the impact of basil and turmeric essential oil nanoemulsions on L. oratoria eggs and adults.
