Supply Chains, Human Rights, and the Blockchain
For her human rights capstone project, Alex Borthwick created a StoryMap to guide viewers through an evaluation of the potential for blockchain technologies to meaningfully contribute to supply chain traceability efforts, specifically around multi-national corporation’s duties of due diligence for human rights violations within their supply chains. In it, she introduces the problem through the case of the chocolate industry, provides a primer on blockchain and how it might be harnessed to address the problem, evaluates a few case studies of blockchain's early use in various industries, and concludes with the limitations of this technology to facilitate meaningful change.
