Infrared Study Using Carbon Monoxide Under Vacuum, Ambient and High Pressures
This document contains safety precautions and operating procedures that must be followed when using carbon monoxide (CO) for diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) studies of supported metal catalysts. The gas is used for investigating the adsorption properties of CO on catalysts surface under vacuum, ambient pressure or high pressure at room temperature as well as elevated temperature. This document emphasizes the use of CO, while the preparation of the catalyst samples and IR operation are described in detail in other SOP documents.
