Modelling The Behaviour Of Rammed Earth Walls Using Finite Element Analysis

Up to one in three people on Earth live in earthen buildings, with rammed earth being the most common form of earthen construction. Rammed earth is one of the oldest construction materials in the world. Rammed earth is coming into fashion in first-world countries due to its pleasant aesthetic and sustainable construction. In contrast, it can be a necessary form of construction in the global south as there may be no other choice. However, these homes are often constructed without technical advice or expertise, leading to dangerous situations for the inhabitants of these structures.
