Impact Assessment of Laboratory and Workshop Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges for North-Wollo and Waghimra Zones, Amhara Region, Ethiopia

Quality management system (QMS) implementations are practices applied by organizations that mainly focus on meeting the customer’s requirements as well as achieving quality policies and objectives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their performance continually. Implementing QMS in our country was expensive, time-consuming, and resource-intensive spent with challenging situations. Therefore, this study aims to assess the Impact of Laboratory and Workshop Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges. The study utilized a mixed-method approach involving surveys/questionnaires, interviews, and observations to examine the effects of QMS on customer satisfaction, learning activities, resource adequacy, and quality improvement. The impact of the Tigray conflict on TVET infrastructure was also identified as a major challenge. In this study, 341 sample size was used from the total population. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), and the findings indicate that 59.8% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the TVET colleges provided adequate feedback on student performance, and 62.2% expressed similar positive views about the practical training components. In learning and teaching, 52.2% of respondents agreed that trainees received adequate support during practical work, while the remaining respondents expressed dissatisfaction. In equipment functionality, only 34.9% of respondents strongly agreed. Regarding equipment functionality, only 34.9% of respondents strongly agreed that tools and equipment were fully functional during training, indicating concerns about the adequacy and keep of resources. The concludes that improved laboratory and workshop QMS implementation requires addressing these shortcomings through increased funding, staff training, and enhanced resource management<br>
