PASAY CITY'S TRANSITION TO AN ECO-CITY: ANALYZING ITS IMPACT ON LOCAL COMPETITIVENESS AND QUALITY OF LIFE
This study explores Pasay City's transition to an eco-city and its effects on local competitiveness and quality of life. The research was conducted in Pasay City, Philippines. The researcher focuses on Pasay City government officials, local stakeholders, business owners and residents. A purposive sampling was used to select forty-five (45) sampling units. The study utilized survey questionnaire. This assessed the city's eco-friendly initiatives, their alignment with sustainability objectives, and their influence on economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The findings revealed that the eco-city transformation enhances local competitiveness by improving infrastructure, attracting businesses, and advancing urban mobility. However, its impact on quality of life presents a mixed picture, with advantages like cleaner air and expanded green spaces offset by challenges such as gentrification and housing affordability. The study advocates for policy measures to promote inclusive growth while maintaining environmental sustainability.
