Assessment on the Perception of Civil Engineering Students towards the usage of AI-Powered Chatbots at University of Mindanao Main

AI-powered chatbots have emerged as game-changing technologies in academia because of their ability to provide immediate academic support, reduce faculty workloads, and enhance student engagement with technical curriculum. However, research on their adaptation to discipline-specific requirements is still lacking. This study uses a quantitative approach through an online poll to assess chatbot adoption using theoretical frameworks including TAM, UTAUT, MRT, and TPB. The results indicate that chatbots significantly enhance academic performance (TAM), depend on social acceptance and teacher support (UTAUT), create concern about their potential threat to education (TPB), and only slightly facilitate idea generation (MRT). Although highly accepted, their integration into education should be approached with critical, moral scrutiny. Keywords: AI-powered chatbots, student engagement tools, ethical considerations in AI, educational technology adoption
