CdS Supporting the\nGrowth of Cd-TCPP(Pt) for High\nPhotocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Rates under Visible Light and Sunlight

Photocatalysis is a process that utilizes light to produce\nvaluable\nchemical agents such as H2, CO, and NH3. However,\nthe limited utilization of photoinduced carriers and high energy barriers\nfor proton reduction have impeded the progress of photocatalytic reactions.\nIn this study, we in situ grew single-atom Pt sites containing 2D\nMOF on CdS to form CdS@2D porphyrin-based metal–organic frameworks\n(PMOF). The CdS@Cd-TCPP(Pt)-3 catalyst exhibits an enhanced hydrogen\nevolution activity of 38 mmol/g/h (≥420 nm) with high chemical\nstability, surpassing pure CdS by a whopping 17.25 times. The mechanism\nis studied with free energy and ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD)\ncalculation, revealing the process of proton reduction and hydrogen\nevolution. These findings open possibilities for the development of\nenhanced activity for CdS/MOF photocatalyst system, addressing the\ncurrent limitations and advancing the field of solar energy conversion.
