About fractal models of clouds

\nIn order to deal concretely with the full diversity and complexity of clouds, we propose here a model of clouds issued from fractals and able to deal with both gravity and wind anisotropy. The goal of this approach is to fit with the observations of infrared resonances and diffraction on clouds. These simple models derive from the well-known model of Menger sponges and takes into account both gravity and wind effect. The analysis of the connectivity matrix of this fractal model for different vertical behaviors enables us to derive a classification of these fractal clouds.\n

Abstract

\nIn order to deal concretely with the full diversity and complexity of clouds, we propose here a model of clouds issued from fractals and able to deal with both gravity and wind anisotropy. The goal of this approach is to fit with the observations of infrared resonances and diffraction on clouds. These simple models derive from the well-known model of Menger sponges and takes into account both gravity and wind effect. The analysis of the connectivity matrix of this fractal model for different vertical behaviors enables us to derive a classification of these fractal clouds.\n
