Cu-MOF and\nCuBi Double-Perovskite Composites for Selective\nCO2 Electroreduction to HCOOH
One of the promising approaches to\nrealize the anthropogenic\nCO2 cycle and mitigate energy issues is electrochemical\nreduction\nof CO2 to HCOOH; however, the development of electrocatalysts\nwith high activity and selectivity toward HCOOH in a broad potential\nwindow is still a great challenge. In this sense, we designed Cu-MOF\nand CuBi double-perovskite composite catalysts and found that CuBi@Cu-MOF-15\nwith passivated urchin-like morphology achieved a maximum FEHCOOH of 93% at a low applied potential of −1.1 V and a current\ndensity of 91.0 mA cm–2. According to the in situ\nATR-FTIR data, CuBi@Cu-MOF-15 is more favorable to stabilize *HCOO\nintermediates than Cu-MOF itself, which helps to promote the electrocatalytic\nreduction of CO2 to HCOOH. This work will stimulate the\ncreation of more sophisticated MOF-based electrocatalysts to support\nthe use of CO2 to produce liquid fuels.
