Hyaluronic Acid-Modified\nLuteolin–Copper Complex\nNanodelivery System for Bacterial Prostatitis

Bacterial prostatitis\nis a common disease of the male\ngenitourinary\nsystem, which seriously affects the normal life and health of male\npatients. Antibiotics are commonly used in the clinical treatment\nof bacterial prostatitis, but the efficacy of fluoroquinolones is\ngradually declining due to the increasing drug resistance of bacteria.\nHence, it is necessary to find new antibacterial drugs to treat bacterial\nprostatitis. Luteolin is a natural flavonoid compound with many pharmacological\nactivities such as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities,\nbut its poor water solubility and low structural stability seriously\nlimit its clinical application. In this study, we designed a targeting\ndrug delivery system via a luteolin–copper complex grafted\nwith hyaluronic acid. The results of the characterization proved the\nsuccessful synthesis of the system. The results of the in vitro performance\ntest show that the system has a good antibacterial effect and excellent\nblood compatibility and can be effectively released under different\npH conditions. The prepared nanodrug delivery system not only provides\na new idea for the treatment of bacterial prostatitis but also lays\na theoretical and practical foundation for the wide application of\nluteolin in clinical practice.
