Synthesis of Thiaphenanthridinones from Sulfinate\nEsters and 2‑Borylanilines

A facile palladium-catalyzed\nsynthesis of thiaphenanthridinones\nfrom sulfinate esters and 2-borylanilines is disclosed. Various sulfur\nanalogs of phenanthridinones were synthesized by bromide-selective\ncross-coupling and cyclization in one step. Further transformations\nof the obtained thiaphenanthridinones allowed preparing a broad range\nof thiaphenanthridinone derivatives involving analogs of bioactive\ncompounds.
