Oriented 1D\nMetal–Organic Frameworks for Selective\nChemisorption by a Substitution–Insertion Mechanism
Chemisorption on organometallic-based adsorbents is crucial\nfor\nthe controlled separation and purification of targeted systems. Herein,\noriented 1D NH2-CuBDC·H2O metal–organic\nframeworks (MOFs) featuring accessible CuII sites are successfully\nfabricated by bottom-up interfacial polymerization. The prepared MOFs,\nas deliberately self-assembled secondary particles, exhibit a visually\ndetectable coordination-responsive characteristic induced by the nucleophilic\nsubstitution and competitive coordination of guest molecules. As a\nversatile phase-change chemosorbent, the MOFs exhibit unprecedented\nNH3 capture (18.83 mmol g–1 at 298 K)\nand bioethanol dehydration performance (enriching ethanol from 99%\nto 99.99% within 10 min by direct adsorption separation of liquid\nmixtures of ethanol and water). Furthermore, the raw materials for\npreparing the 1D MOFs are inexpensive and readily available, and the\nfacile regeneration with water washing at room temperature effectively\nminimizes the energy consumption and cost of recycling, enabling it\nto be the most valuable adsorbent for the removal and separation of\ntarget substances.
