Cholesterol-Supported\nLiquid-Phase Synthesis of Betaines\nand Organic Cations without Chromatography

Cholesterol was explored as a support\nfor liquid-phase\nsynthesis.\nWithout the need for chromatography, the cholesterol-supported liquid-phase\napproach gave access to diverse betaines possessing chiral ammonium,\nphosphonium, and sulfonium ions. The cholesterol-supported method\nwas further demonstrated by the synthesis of cationic amides and hydrazides.
