Digital economy for biodiversity: Harnessing technology to preserve ecosystems and genetic diversity

\nThis study examines the intersection of digital technology and biodiversity conservation, highlighting the dynamic interplay between technological innovation and ecological preservation. A systematic review of 200+ articles from 2015 to 2023 was conducted using databases such as Scopus and Web of Science. The review focused on themes including the role of partnerships, technological advancements, and public engagement in conservation efforts. Research methods encompassed both qualitative and quantitative analyses of chosen studies. The study identified recurring themes, including the merging of genomics and AI for monitoring biodiversity, the impact of digital platforms on societal engagement, and the challenges associated with data governance and fairness. Findings revealed the potentially transformative nature of digital technologies in conservation, especially in improving data collection, species monitoring, and participatory governance. For instance, machine learning was utilized for wildlife monitoring, and digital media platforms were employed to raise public awareness. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited resources, data disparities, and an excessive reliance on technology without consideration of socio-cultural contexts were also recognized. The conclusion emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and inclusive governance models to ensure the effective integration of technology in biodiversity conservation. The study underscores the importance of drawing on diverse data sources, cultivating partnerships, and addressing socio-economic obstacles to fully capitalize on the benefits of digital innovations in conservation strategies. Future research should concentrate on equitable and sustainable digital approaches to biodiversity preservation.\n
