Synthesis of Quadruple\nHydrogen-Bonded Monomers for\nSTART Terpolymerization to Prepare Main-Chain-Type Fluorinated Supramolecular\nTerpolymers
In this work, quadruple hydrogen bond-driven supramolecular\nmonomer\nolefin-terminated ureido-pyrimidinones (UPys) are developed for START\nterpolymerization to prepare main-chain-type semifluorinated alternating\nterpolymers (SFAT-Us). The terpolymerizations are investigated in\ndetail by a kinetic study and NMR characterization of the prepared\npolymers. It is notable that the molar mass of the fluorinated supramolecular\nterpolymers can be adjusted solely by changing the solvent due to\nthe dynamic reversibility of the formation of quadruple hydrogen bonding.\nSupramolecular terpolymers with tailor-made noncovalent cross-linking\ndensities can be achieved by controlling the feeding ratios of comonomers.\nFinally, fluorine-containing materials, which are able to self-heal,\ncan be obtained by end-group modification of the as-prepared supramolecular\nterpolymer. Overall, this work provides a new strategy for the synthesis\nof fluorinated supramolecular polymers, broadening the variety of\nfluorinated polymers.
