Exploring the Reactivity\nof Electrophilic Organic\nCarbonates and Thiocarbonates as Vehicles to Convert Hydrosulfide\ninto COS and CS2
Hydrogen\nsulfide (H2S) and other reactive sulfur species\nare important small molecules with biological significance. In addition\nto common reactive sulfur species like H2S, polysulfides,\nand persulfides, both carbonyl sulfide (COS) and carbon disulfide\n(CS2) have been postulated to be potential sources of reduced\nsulfur. To better understand this possible connection, we demonstrate\nthat H2S can be converted to COS and CS2 by\nreaction with simple organic carbonate and thiocarbonate electrophiles,\nrespectively.
