Differentiating\nReactive Oxygen Species with DNA Framework\nMonitors
The lifespan, oxidizing properties, bonding behaviors,\nand reactivity\nof reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced during photocatalytic activation\ncan vary significantly due to the differences in electron configurations\nof ROS, which are dependent on their generation mechanisms: energy\ntransfer or charge transfer. Hence, identifying and differentiating\nROS of different mechanisms can improve our understanding of redox\nreactions and related diseases, providing a basis for the prevention\nand treatment of related diseases. Here, we have developed a DNA framework\nmonitor (DFM) based on dynamic DNA structural changes to effectively\ndistinguish the two types of ROS produced in photocatalytic activation\nof O2. This DFM provides a visualization tool for observing\nthe reaction kinetics of ROS with DNA, not only distinguishing two\ntypes of ROS with different mechanisms but also serving as a universal\nsystem for evaluating the efficacy and performance of nanomaterials\nfor ROS regulation.
