Textile-Based\nTENG\nWoven with Fluorinated Polyimide\nYarns for Motion and Position Monitoring

Polyimide-based\ntriboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs)\ncapable of\nenergy harvesting in harsh environments (high temperature and high\nhumidity) have been extensively studied. However, most polyimide-based\nTENGs have the disadvantages of poor air permeability and poor softness.\nIn this study, a core–shell yarn with good air permeability,\nsoftness, and high electric output performance was successfully prepared\nby conjugate electrospinning. FEP-doped FPI and nickel-plated aramid\nyarn were employed as the shell and core materials, respectively.\nDue to the unique hierarchical porous structure and fluorinated functional\ngroup modification, the yarns exhibit excellent output performance\n(maximum open-circuit voltage is 22.7 V per length of 10 cm) compared\nto traditional polyimide yarns. The textile woven with this yarn has\ngood high-temperature resistance, antifouling, waterproof, and self-cleaning\nperformance, and still maintains an output performance of about 80%\nunder 99% relative humidity. Moreover, this textile-based TENG has\nno significant attenuation after 10,000 cycles, showing good stability\nand durability. Finally, the TENG based on the intelligent fire suit\nis designed, which can be used for the movement and position monitoring\nof firefighters in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.\nThis fluorinated polyimide yarn prepared in this study provides a\npromising solution for the development of self-powered sensors capable\nof monitoring the movement status and position of firefighters in\nhigh-temperature and high-humidity environments.
