Plasma-AssistedDry Reforming of Methane over theTi–Ni Catalysts
Plasma-assisted dry reforming (DRM) of methane to produce syngas holds significant promise for reducing carbon emissions. This work employs a Ti–Ni catalyst with finely tuned composition and structure in an inert-gas-free, near-room temperature DRM process under plasma conditions. Titanium shows great potential for producing syngas with a H2/CO ratio of 1:1, while with limited conversion of the reactant. By the introduction of a second component Ni with optimal Ti/Ni ratio and microstructure, the conversions for CH4 and CO2 reach 59.7 and 48.2%, respectively, with a H2/CO ratio of 1.05. The associated structure-performance relationship is probed and the origins of the excellent performance of the system are attributed to the promoted equivalent capacitance of the discharging area. The potential of Ti–Ni catalysts in industrial plasma-catalyst hybrid DRM systems is highlighted.
