Modular Synthesis\nof Geminal Iododiboron Compounds\nvia Alkylation of Chlorodiborylmethane

α-Halogenated geminal bis(boronates) are emerging\nas multifunctional\nbuilding blocks for organic synthesis. Currently, their synthetic\nutilization is still restricted due to a lack of efficient preparation\nmethods. Herein, we report a direct, modular synthesis of <i>gem</i>-iododiborylalkanes using alkyl halides and a lithiated\nchlorodiborylmethane reagent. Compared with previously reported methods,\nthis protocol features modular assembly, high efficiency, and good\ntolerance to various functional groups.
