Chiroptical Synaptic\nPerovskite Memristor as Reconfigurable\nPhysical Unclonable Functions
Physical unclonable functions (PUFs), often referred\nto as digital\nfingerprints, are emerging as critical elements in enhancing hardware\nsecurity and encryption. While significant progress has been made\nin developing optical and memory-based PUFs, integrating reconfigurability\nwith sensitivity to circularly polarized light (CPL) remains largely\nunexplored. Here, we present a chiroptical synaptic memristor (CSM)\nas a reconfigurable PUF, leveraging a two-dimensional organic–inorganic\nhalide chiral perovskite. The device combines CPL sensitivity with\nphotoresponsive electrical behavior, enabling its application in optoneuromorphic\nsystems, as demonstrated by its ability to perform image categorization\ntasks within neuromorphic computing. Furthermore, by leveraging a\n10 × 10 crossbar array of the CSMs, we develop a PUF capable\nof generating reconfigurable cryptographic keys based on the combination\nof neuromorphic potentiation and polarized light conditions. This\nwork demonstrates an integrated approach to optoneuromorphic functionality,\ndata storage, and encryption, providing an alternative approach for\nreconfigurable memristor-based PUFs.
