Effect of\nNa/Ca Adsorbents on NiRu-DFM Performance\nfor Integrated CO2 Capture and Hydrogenation

Integrated carbon dioxide capture and utilization (ICCU)\ntechnology\nis being developed to address the challenge of increasing atmospheric\nCO2 levels. Dual function materials (DFMs) are designed\nwith catalytic and adsorbent components that enable the capture and\nutilization of CO2 within a single reactor. In this investigation,\nwe systematically evaluated the performance of NiRu-DFMs incorporating\noxides of Ca, Na, or a combination to identify effects on both activity\nand selectivity. Our findings underscore not only the role of adsorbent\nselection in dictating the overall performance of DFMs but also the\npretreatment conditions (in situ reduction). Notably, the highest\nmethanation activity is observed on an as-synthesized (oxidized) 10%\nCa-DFM (223.21 μmol/gDFM) at 380 °C, surpassing all other\nas-synthesized or reduced DFMs. This study sheds light on the relationships\nbetween composition, pretreatment, temperature, and performance in\nDFMs, offering valuable insights into the advancement of new compositions\nfor DFMs.
