Muğlalı Şâhidî İbrâhim Dede’de Dünyaya Gelmenin Hikmeti ve Kendini Bilme Bağlamında “Gelmişlerdeniz” Redifli Gazelini Şerh Denemesi

Cities are often associated with figures who establish civilizations, foster development, pave the way, and imbue them with spirit. One of the most significant figures in this regard for Muğla and its surroundings is Şâhidî İbrâhim Dede, the foremost representative of the Mevlevi tradition in Muğla.Şâhidî follows in the footsteps of the great Sheikh, Hz. Mevlâna, who proclaimed, "I am a mountain, my words echo the voice of my beloved." Şâhidî expresses this sentiment as follows: "I emptied myself and was filled with Him. Like a seashell, I am filled with His pearl. O reader seeking the mysteries! These words are not mine; it is He, Mevlâna, who speaks through Şâhidî." Şâhidî received his initial spiritual and literary training from his father, Hüdâyî Dede, and was deeply influenced by his sheikh, Dîvâne Mehmed Çelebi. A prolific poet, he introduced innovations in the field of Mesnevî commentaries, particularly with his Gülşen-i Tevhîd, and paved the way for verse dictionaries with his Tuhfe. Focusing extensively on the wisdom of self-knowledge, Şâhidî has continued to guide people for centuries with his proverbs and proverbial couplets. His ghazal with the refrain "gelmişlerdeniz" (we are of those who have come) exemplifies his highly artistic style in expressing the true nature of existence. This article provides brief evaluations of Şâhidî’s ghazal alongside other ghazals, murabbas, and muhammeses composed with the same refrain. According to available information, the first ghazal with the refrain "gelmişlerdeniz" belongs to Şah İsmail, known by the pen name Hatâyî, one of the prominent poets of the 16th-century Azerbaijani literary tradition, to whose works parallel poems were frequently composed. It is stated that poets composed parallel poems to this highly admired ghazal, including Hayâlî, Şâhidî, Aşkî, Âşık Ömer, Şükrî, Feyzî, and Zihnî.A commentary attempt has been made on Şâhidî’s seven-couplet ghazal, demonstrating his mastery of the Sufi language and style employed by mystical poets.
