Simulation research of cooling water pipe method based on high temperature deep well
With the oil and gas’s growing depth exploration, geological conditions are becoming more complex, and high temperatures have become one of the major challenges in deep well exploration. To tackle the high-temperature challenges in deep well drilling and ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable exploration of oil and gas resources, this study presents Jie Zhang’s innovative method for continuous downhole cooling. A temperature field model for the method is developed, and the effectiveness and optimal implementation effects of the method are explored by comparing wellbore temperatures with and without the cooling method. The findings indicate that compared to conventional drilling processes, the drilling fluid cooling method can efficiently reduce the bottom temperature by 13.3–16.3 °C. Furthermore, it was found that factors, such as the flow rate of cooling water, the length of the cooling water pipeline, the number of pipelines, and the specific heat capacity of the cooling fluid substantially influence the downhole cooling effect on the drilling fluid. Notably, a longer cooling water pipeline does not necessarily guarantee improved cooling; thus, careful design considerations regarding pipeline depth are essential for optimal performance.
