Genomes of three Acanthus mangrove species: A. tetraploideus, A. ilicifolius and A. ebracteatus
The neo-polyploid A. tetraploideus (prefix of AB) and progenitors-like A. ebracteatus (prefix of a) and A. ilicifolius (prefix of b) represent an important genetic model for understanding polyploid evolution under intertidal zone environments. Here, we apply ONT, HiFi and Hi-C technology to generate three chromosome-level genome assembly for Acanthus spp.. Upon the genomes, we revealed the origin and evolution history of the three Acanthus species. Our finding confirmed an unreported evolutionary pattern in mangrove species.
