The interchangeable use of Piccolo devices and Coils in PDA closure, is coil use gradually vanishing?
Coils have been the mainstay for minimally invasive PDA closure in small to moderate defects. However, Piccolo devices are now emerging as an alternative with similar minimally invasive advantages, including aortic side deliverability and similar size profile. The benefit of lower residual leaks with Piccolo devices suggests a future where coils might become obsolete. This paper will focus on the convergence of these two approaches and highlight how Piccolo devices could offer a more robust solution for PDA closure.
