Formation and spatial evolution of carbon materials in near-wall region for ethylene premixed burner-stabilized stagnation flame
The nanostructure evolution of carbon particles in the near-wall region was investigated in a premixed stabilized-stagnation flame. A thin quenching layer separated the wall from the flame during flame-wall interaction. Carbon particle samples were collected at three representative spatial locations using thermophoretic sampling, orifice sampling, and deposition sampling methods under a wide range of equivalence ratios. The thermophoretic sampling and orifice sampling results mainly showed amorphous carbon, while under the equivalence ratio conditions of 1.75 and 2.00, graphitic carbon was generated, and only fullerene-like carbon was observed in the deposition sampling results. By comparing the carbon nanostructures at different sampling positions, it was found that the deposited graphitic carbon on the stagnant surface transformed toward fullerene-like carbon. This study was beneficial to understand the carbon particle nanostructures formation in the flame-wall interaction and provided data support for subsequent research on the synthesis and transformation of carbon materials in premixed burner-stabilized stagnation flames.
