Electronic Supplementary - Fluorescence in Cryptochirids

This project investigates the diversity and evolution of fluorescence in coral-dwelling gall crabs (Cryptochiridae) from the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. Using a combination of morphological trait analysis and phylogenomics, we identified distinct fluorescent morphologies and demonstrated that fluorescence evolved independently across multiple lineages. The Electronic Supplementary Materials (ESM) provide supporting data, including a map of sampling locations, imaging workflows, statistical analyses (FAMD, HCPC), field observations, phylogenetic summaries, and videos of fluorescent gall crabs. These materials offer further insights into the methodologies and key findings, enhancing understanding of fluorescence as an adaptive trait in marine invertebrates.
