Taxonomic list of red algal species known to have structural colour from Structural colour in red seaweeds is more common and diverse than has been presumed

List of red algal species reported in the literature as having structural colour, categorised hierarchically by taxonomic order, family and genus. Within each taxon, the list is ordered alphabetically and does not reflect chronological evolution. The fifth column indicates the type of nanostructure involved in the creation of structural colour for the species, where known (cf. section 3 of the manuscript: "Types of structures and mechanisms of structural colour in rhodophytes"). The last column gives the corresponding source where the information on the type of structure was found. This list was last updated in June 2025.
