We Survived the Crash, But the Scars Remain”: Stories from Mangaluru, Kozhikode, and Bengaluru Aviation Disasters
This thesis explores the profound emotional and psychological impact of aviation disasters on survivors, focusing on three major Indian crashes: the Mangaluru plane crash (2010), the Kozhikode Air India Express accident (2020), and the Bengaluru-bound AI171 incident (2024). Drawing from survivor testimonies, psychological data from NIMHANS, and technical aviation reports by DGCA and ICAO, this study reveals how trauma, PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and chronic anxiety linger long after the wreckage is cleared. Through personal stories and data-driven analysis, this paper highlights the urgent need for post-crash mental health support systems in India’s growing aviation sector.<br>
