ADD Hyperfocus Theory: Tribal Biology, Energy Conservation, and Cognitive States
This paper proposes a hypothesis for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) based on the dual states of distractibility and hyperfocus. The theory suggests that ADD may reflect a tribal biological adaptation designed to conserve or expend energy according to environmental pressures. Specifically, the heart rate is proposed as the mediating factor: a lower resting heart rate leading to energy conservation and distractibility, and a heightened heart rate in states of fear or passion triggering hyperfocus. This framework links brain energy consumption, blood-mediated glucose delivery, and evolutionary energy strategies
