Essay on the essence of the soul Zrahya Isaac
The study provided a definition of the soul with descriptions without addressing its physical nature, with the possibility of looking at its effect on the body and the extent to which this effect appears in the behaviors of the human entity. The word "soul" in the Arabic language corresponded with "נפש" in the Hebrew language, with the latter mixing between "נפש" "רוח" "soul, spirit" as well as in some Arabic writings, with both Arabic and Hebrew being influenced by Greek thought when dealing with the soul in philosophical writings. The study showed that the soul is an entity that resides in the body and grows with it according to the age stages of the human body. No one was able to describe the differences between the child's soul and the soul in other age stages, with the soul not being divided into types (vegetable-animal-speaking) and that these characteristics are like age stages for a single entity. The study showed that the translated text may be attributed to Al-Farabi; Since the text does not differ from its style in dealing with the soul, Al-Farabi is considered a model of Greek influences on Arab Islamic thought. Islamic thought was the true expression between Greek thought and Jewish thought, with the presence of Hebrew translations of Greek works before Islam. The study showed the presence of Hebrew translations of works in Arabic whose Arabic version was lost, which confirms the importance of restoring the Arab heritage by returning it to its Arabic origin. The study also showed the possibility of converting the Greek term "hyle" to "thing" to match the Arabic language, and the term "essence" to "entity". The study showed that the soul is not related to the mind, as they are different from each other, so it is not correct to say that the rational soul refers to the stage of the speaking or speaking soul. It became clear from examining the Holy Quran that there is no "mind" with the presence of the verb indicating reasoning, thinking and contemplation, which confirms that the mind is not in the brain at the top of the body, but rather in the heart, which carries all the senses and controls them. Death is the separation of the soul from the body, not the separation of the spirit from the body, and this is what the Holy Quran explained.
